Door systems NVQ level 2

This NVQ recognises the competence of engineers who install, service and repair a range of special doors. Examples include:

• Domestic garage doors
• Fire-resisting doors and shutters
• Rolling shutters
• Sectional overhead doors
• Pedestrian doors

Both power operated and manually-operated products are covered.

The construction industry is moving gradually towards a fully-qualified workforce, through the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). Having a CSCS card proves your level of competence, and achieving the Door Systems NVQ is the now the only way of getting a permanent "skilled" blue CSCS card, renewable at five-yearly intervals. Candidates who are in the process of undertaking the NVQ may obtain three-year, non-renewable, CSCS cards; these are red for trainees and blue for "experienced workers".
