BRE has, for over eighty years, carried out research into the safety, regulation and performance of buildings on behalf of the UK government. BRE Certification, a sister company to BRE, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BRE Trust which is a non-profit distributing organisation. The Loss Prevention Certification Board joined BRE Certification on 31 March 2000.
