NEW Garage Door Safety Diploma

We are pleased to announce that we have recently launched the Garage Door Safety Diploma, which is only available to members of the DHF.

Training courses take place throughout the year and, whilst the course could benefit some installation engineers, it is primarily suited to owners/managers/supervisors who are responsible for legal compliance within their domestic garage door companies.

The course lasts one day and provides delegates with a greater understanding of legislation affecting the supply, installation, maintenance and repair of domestic garage doors.  At the end of the course, delegates will also have increased knowledge of the standards and documentation required for installation and CE marking.

It covers the following garage door installation activities:

  • Automating an existing manual door by adding a drive unit;
  • Installing a new manual door supplied from one manufacturer;
  • Installing a new powered door supplied from one manufacturer (i.e. door and drive from the same manufacturer);
  • Installing a new powered door where the door and drive came from different manufacturers.

           Please note that more complex activities, such as modifying standard products during installation in ways not covered by the manufacturer’s instructions or obtaining components from multiple suppliers to create a new door, are not covered.  For these, please see the industrial door course.

NEW Industrial Door Safety Diploma

We are pleased to announce that we have recently launched the Industrial Door Safety Diploma. Training courses take place throughout the year and are open to members and non members.

Each course takes place over two days. Whilst the course could benefit some engineers, it is primarily suitable for those persons responsible for legal compliance within their industrial door companies.

It is also suitable for Garage Door companies who are involved in  more complex activities, such as modifying standard products during installation in ways not covered by the manufacturer’s instructions or obtaining components from multiple suppliers to create a new door.

The course will provide delegates with a greater understanding of legislation affecting the supply, installation, inspection, risk assessment, maintenance and repair of industrial doors.

Powered Gate Safety Diploma

The DHF Powered Gate Group continues to offer an industry-wide training scheme as part of its drive to increase levels of safety in the powered automatic gates sector.

Training courses take place throughout the year and the courses are open to all those personnel (both members and non members of the DHF) who are responsible for the safety of automatically controlled powered gates.

Each course takes place over two days and focuses on technical and practical safety procedures. The DHF Gate Safety Diploma covers all aspects of gate safety from initial risk assessment through to force testing. It will ensure that installers are fully conversant with all relevant safety regulations, can prepare a technical file and can issue a Declaration of Conformity.

The scheme ensures that all DHF Powered Gate Group member companies' personnel are trained to provide and install fully compliant gates in all environments. It is regonised as one of the most comprehensive training schemes in the powered gate industry. The DHF powered gate group developed the training curriculum based on the advice it received on legal aspects from the Health & Safety Executive.

The DHF Gate Safety Diploma assures the customer that he has chosen a safe product that has been installed by a fully trained fitter. It gives the customer complete peace of mind that he has made a responsible and safe choice.
