DHF's Timber Doorset Chair Fiona Critchley to present at the FIT show

Fiona Critchley to present at the FIT show

Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has announced that the Chair of the DHF Timber Doorset Group, Fiona Critchley, will be presenting on behalf of the federation at the FIT show, held from 10th – 12th May at Birmingham’s NEC, in Halls 3 & 3a.

The presentation on Standards & Legislation Affecting Flat Entrance Doorsets will take place in the Seminar Theatre on Thursday 12th May from 13:30 – 14:00, including a Q&A session, and will comprise such topics as what to look for on flat entrance doorsets, understanding the Declaration of Performance (DoP), the importance of manufacturers’ maintenance instructions for fire doorsets, and how to view replacement parts when it comes to maintenance of fire doorsets.

The FIT Show is the UK’s only dedicated event for the window, door, flat glass, hardware, and components industry.  Taking place across three days, the show welcomes installers and fabricators through to architects and specifiers and attracts 10,000 decision makers who visit the show specifically to purchase the latest windows, doors, glass, hardware & components, garage doors, canopies & awnings, machinery, and tools & lifting equipment.

“We are delighted that Fiona Critchley will be at the FIT Show to discuss the regulatory standards and legislation to be aware of when selecting fire-resisting doorsets,” says DHF’s Head of Commercial Operations, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens.

“Since the Grenfell fire in June 2017, the industry and the public have become much more aware of the safety requirements for high rise residential buildings, such as communal entrances and flat entrances.  The presentation will include a discussion of government guidelines and regulations, independent certification such as Secured By Design and third-party fire certification, and other considerations including repairs, glazing and installation.”

Fiona Critchley is Head of Communications for The Gerda Group.  With experience spanning more than 15 years in the fire doorset manufacturing sector, she continues to work alongside trade associations and participates in industry groups and technical committees.

“DHF is a long-standing supporter of The Fit Show and is proud to be presenting once again as part of the education programme,” says Patricia.  “Although The Fit Show has been absent due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are extremely pleased to see it returning to the NEC in Birmingham.  We very much look forward to meeting members of DHF exhibiting at the show.”
