Important COVID-19 Pandemic Updates from DHF

COVID-19 Updates

If you are a dhf member, please visit the dhf Member News area for the latest updates regarding COVID-19 from dhf.

As you are no doubt aware, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected all of us across the UK, and dhf is no exception. This page collects all of the latest information and news links from dhf regarding the current situation.

Face coverings are now required during face to face training

In line with Government recommendations and guidelines, with immediate effect all  face to face training delegates must wear a face covering during face to face course instruction. Free face coverings are provided at all dhf courses. The Distance Learning Programme is a great way to get training for installation engineers that must self-isolate or cannot travel to the Midlands for face to face training.

Face To Face training bookings being taken

dhf is proud to announce that training dates at the dhf Training Academy have been published to the end of 2020 for anyone interested in safety training for their staff, engineers and operatives.

dhf is unique in that it maintains its own bespoke Training Academy - a building completely separate from the dhf office staff where training delegates can attend courses in a freestanding facility with its own classroom, break room, kitchen and toilet. This allows dhf to maintain a high level of safety for all training delegates and dhf staff.

A multitude of safety considerations and processes have been undertaken to ready the Training Academy for classes:

  • A full risk assessment has been undertaken and all dhf facilities have been certified COVID-19 Secure
  • The dhf Training Academy, which normally accommodates up to 25 people, has been restricted to just 6 delegates (per Goverment guidance) to maintain a two-metre distance
  • Hand sanitiser, face coverings and gloves are available for all attendees
  • There is plenty of outdoor space to enable members to park safely and at a distance
  • The academy is also thoroughly deep cleaned following each day's course

The two-day diploma course, normally spread over two consecutive days, is now split over the course of a week (Day 2 is held one week after Day 1), so candidates will not need to stay overnight to complete any courses, and exams will be undertaken in the usual way.

Courses can be booked online right now at

Online training available through the new DHF Distance Learning Programme (DLP)

In April 2020, at the start of the Government-mandated lockdown, DHF postponed all face to face training courses but moved quickly to provide online course training, which is available now for training delegates across the UK.  This has now been developed further and DHF is proud to announce the introduction of its Distance Learning Programme (DLP), which includes all of the available face-to-face classroom courses taught at the DHF Training Academy:

Combining the convenience of viewing the training videos at leisure with the support and guidance of a dedicated one-to-one tutor, these courses not only minimilises time away from the workplace but also saves the carbon footprint. Online training can be booked here.

Online web conferencing available

Face-to-face meetings for group meetings are cancelled for the time being, however dhf members have been conducting online web conferencing for the past several months. dhf will continue to follow Government advice as to when face-to-face courses and meetings will continue.
