Access control hardware

This module introduces learners to the basics of access control and access control hardware. It explains how access control manages movement within a building and highlights the differences between hardware and software. Learners will explore fail-safe and fail-secure systems, various locking methods, electric releases, electromagnetic locks, and electronic locksets.
The module also covers ways to release and gain access, such as keypads, biometrics and Bluetooth, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
Finally, it explains the importance of power supply units and different power transfer methods.
