Hinges

This module covers the basics of hinges, including their purpose, types, materials, and selection criteria. Learners will understand how hinges support and secure doors in various settings and identify different types used on timber, steel, uPVC and composite doors. It also covers hinge components, bearing systems, common materials and finishes.

Additionally, learners will be introduced to the current industry standards, along with key factors for selecting the right hinge, including strength, fire rating and corrosion resistance.
