Terms and conditions - Building Hardware Training
These Terms and Conditions apply to all candidates booking onto DHF Core Competencies: Understanding Building Hardware training courses, all delivered online via the DHF Training Academy (website), therein referred to as the Training Academy.
- It is deemed that once the course payment is made, the learner will have 12 months in which to complete their training.
- It is the candidate’s sole responsibility to sit through every purchased module of the course within the 12-month period and take all associated exams.
- Course access is licensed solely to the named learner. Sharing login details or allowing any other person to access the course materials is strictly prohibited
- DHF reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the courses and to take legal action where unauthorised access, sharing or misuse of course materials is identified.
- All course materials, including videos, documents, assessments and other learning resources, remain the intellectual property of DHF. Unauthorised copying, recording, distribution, reproduction or sharing of any course content, in whole or in part, is prohibited and may result in legal action.
Making a booking of courses
- A booking is confirmed once the online booking form has been completed and submitted and confirmation of the booking has been issued by DHF.
- Before submitting the online booking form, please ensure you have read, understood, and accepted the Terms and Conditions of Booking. By submitting a booking form, you will be deemed to have read, understood, and accepted them.
Accreditation
- Accreditation is provided through the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE) which is regulated by Ofqual.
- This formal accreditation, offered through DHF is for the theory-based qualification for DHF Core Competencies: Understanding Building Hardware.
- Those who have booked an accredited course MUST upload an official photographic ID, such as passport or driving license, onto the DHF Training Academy website. Failure to do so could result in the candidate not being able to sit the exam and no refund of the additional registration fee will be offered.
- If a candidate fails a course they will be offered one resit via the online Training Academy, FREE OF CHARGE.
Candidates' responsibilities
- Candidates MUST notify DHF of any barriers to learning, this includes dyslexia, or difficulties with reading and writing.
- If the learner has not informed DHF of any information that could prevent them from taking the exam, the candidate forfeits their rights to a refund.
- Each candidate will be provided with the relevant login details once their booking has been processed. Candidates are responsible for notifying DHF if they are unable to log into the DHF Training Academy.
Methods of payment
- If payment has not been made using the online payment facility, payment must be received in full before access to the course is granted to the learner.
- Payment can be made either by cheque, payable to Door & Hardware Federation, by BACS using the information on the invoice or by using the online facility.
- An invoice is issued on request for pre-payment only. It will state whether payment has been made or is owed. Any purchase order numbers that need to be quoted must be specified and marked clearly on the booking form.
VAT
- All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT which is charged at the standard rate.
Cancellation of Bookings
- Cancellations requests and any associated refunds will be at the discretion of the DHF Training Department.
- Refunds will not be provided if any of the course videos have been started.
- Where learner registration with ABBE has already taken place, the associated registration fee is non-refundable. As a result, any refund issued will be reduced to reflect this cost and will be at the discretion of DHF.
Learner substitution
- Once learner details have been submitted for ABBE registration, the registration cannot be transferred to another individual. Any request to substitute a learner after this point will be considered at the discretion of DHF and may incur additional charges to cover a new registration fee.
Sickness
- Requests for refunds due to illness will be considered at DHF's discretion. Where a refund is approved, DHF reserves the right to deduct any non-refundable costs already incurred, including awarding organisation registration fees where applicable.
Course content and programme schedule
- DHF reserves the right to alter or amend the advertised content of any course without notice to continuously provide a high-quality service or due to changes in legislation that determine the content of the course and is beyond DHF’s control.
- Although content may change, content will always align with the courses learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

- Any decisions made under these Terms and Conditions are final and no communication will be entered into.
