When a new automated garage door is supplied, it must comply with two pieces of criminal legislation, these are the:
These two pieces of legislation make it a requirement for the door to undergo strict compliance testing to ensure it will be safe for users, which means that the door cannot squash, trap, collapse or otherwise injure a person or damage property.
On completion of the installation of the automated garage door, the installer must provide the consumer with two important documents that provide evidence that the garage door has been subject to the legally required certification and safety compliance testing.
This certification is the consumer’s assurance that the product they are receiving is both safe and compliant.
The new door must display a CE/UKCA mark label that shows the performance criteria of the door. It will also show the name of the ‘Notified Test Laboratory’ who completed the testing, along with their four-figured reference number.
Consumers should also receive a user manual and details of the warranty and any maintenance requirements needed to keep the door functioning in a safe and reliable condition.
Please ensure for your own peace of mind that the installer used is both willing and able to fulfil these requirements; if they are not, dhf advises that you do not use them.
